Thank you so much for posting this Jeff, I couldn't have said it better. When I was young I remember hearing various versions on a similar theme from my parents, "you're judged by the people you associate with." While I generally discounted what my parents were saying, you know, being that I was inclined to run around with free thinkers, I understood that what they were saying had truth to it - and still does.

We are all influenced by our peers and our sources of information. When I leave my "bubble" of friends with can-do attitudes and positive outlooks on situations I feel like I've hit a brick wall sometimes. I have to remind myself that I'm used to looking at life through a different set of lenses than many of the people I have to interact with at work, etc. As people we use information (whether from peers or the news or whatever) as a way to establish our place in the world. I'm so glad that I've had the opportunity to work with you and so many others to find that my place in the world is one of opportunity and progress instead of fear and depression.

I would love it if something that comes out of this interaction with WOSU is a sort of local newscast that follows your thought pattern, providing constructive reporting instead of destructive reporting.
